Press Release: The National Title I Association is pleased to announce that O’Loughlin Elementary School from Hays, Kansas has been named a National Title I Distinguished School by the Kansas state department of education. O’Loughlin Elementary School is one of 59 schools throughout the country that is being nationally recognized for exceptional student achievement in 2013.

A project of the National Title I Association, the National Title I Distinguished Schools Program publicly recognizes qualifying Title I schools for the outstanding academic achievements of their students. It highlights the efforts of schools across the country making significant improvements for their students. The program has been in place since 1996, highlighting the success of hundreds of schools in one of two categories: • Category 1: Exceptional student performance for two or more consecutive years • Category 2: Closing the achievement gap between students

Title I is the cornerstone of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. It is the largest federally funded pre-college education program in the United States and provides funding to school districts across the country to aid in the education of economically disadvantaged students.

The National Title I Association is a membership organization made up of the Title I Directors from each of the states and territories, who are charged with managing their state Title I program to ensure compliance with federal regulations and to ensure that all children – especially those living in economically disadvantaged conditions – have the opportunity to receive a high quality education. The National Title I Association implemented the National Title I Distinguished Schools Program to highlight selected schools that have sucessfully used their Title I federal funds to improve the education for economically disadvantaged students. More information about all National Title I Distinguished Schools is available on the National Title I Association website:

Important Message for our O’Loughlin Parents:

TMP has graciously agreed to allow O’Loughlin traffic to use Victory Road for arrival and dismissal times. Parents were notified prior to the start of school that all motor vehicles must stay on the paved Victory Road. O’Loughlin vehicles turn right off of Hall Street onto Victory Road through the south gate only. O’Loughlin parents are not allowed to use the north entrance into TMP. After turning right from Hall Street, cars travel to the designated turn-around point, turn around and then travel east on Victory Road to the designated pick up spot for O’Loughlin students. Unfortunately, some O’Loughlin vehicles have disregarded the turn-around point and have made U-turns on Victory Road. In order to maintain much needed Victory Road privileges for our parents and students, all O’Loughlin traffic must respect and adhere to the turn-around traffic pattern. Absolutely all traffic must stay on the paved roads. Your immediate assistance with this traffic concern is critical for safety and convenience for both O’Loughlin and TMP students and families. We appreciate the cooperation and support we have received from TMP for the past 24 years and with your cooperation, look forward to maintaining this positive relationship in the future.
